Tristan was an only child raise to become the king of
the land of Terma. He spent much of his younger childhood with
his mother while his father occupied himself with running his
kingdom. He mother instilled in him a rigid code of honor and
conduct that shaped his life.
Her death from wasting sickness brought about many
changes in his life. His father who had rarely seen him suddenly
brought him completely into his life making the young prince
follow him around on his daily routine, listening to council
sessions, diplomatic negations, and every thing in between. He
also began sending Tristan to various instructors for lessons in
history, military warfare, law, medicine, and math. From those
lessons sprang from the boy’s a deep thirst for knowledge
that would forever change his life.
In his studies he encountered in the recesses of the
royal library under a strong magical barrier books on the use of
mage gift left from a distant ancestor, there began his life long
pursuit of knowledge of a untapped gift deep with in
him.
In his seventeenth year he was untrusted with the duty
of securing their northern most border where an uneasy peace was
breaking apart with the neighboring kingdom. He and his troops
were stationed near a minor count’s estates where Tristan
met a woman named Kassarah. Not much is known of the time he
spent with the wild untamed woman except that when the treaty was
concluded he left the northern border and the woman that carried
his child.
Five years later he married his current wife Gemma at
the request of his dying father. She was a woman from one of the
most powerful opposing families in his kingdom and marrying her
united the kingdom firmly under his control. His wife miscarried
four children until finally in his thirty- third year his
daughter Tisa was born.
